Wasatch
Front Brittany Club Events
Our club sponsors a variety of activities
throughout the year:
FIELD TRIALS
WFT is licensed to hold AKC field trials. The club is working on hosting
two trials per year. You may run your dog in six competitive stakes, depending
on its age and ability. The stakes are: All Age and Gun Dog (adult, two
types of each), Derby (6 to 24 mos.), and Puppy (6 to 15 mos.).
HUNT TESTS
The AKC hunting tests are non-competitive events where qualifying scores
will earn the dog "legs" toward the titles of Junior Hunter
(JH), Senior Hunter (SH), and Master Hunter (MH) for performance in hunt
tests. The standards for the various levels are designed to approximate
the situations and conditions encountered when hunting.
SHOW
We will be working on becoming licensed to hold a Brittany specialty show.
DOG TRAINING
Wasatch Front Brittany Club and the German Shorthair Club of Utah sponsor
field training each summer. Training options vary from puppy training
to the more challenging field manners of a finished gun dog.
SOCIAL EVENTS
The club plans to hold summer and winter socials. The summer social would
include picnic lunch and some dog or shooting activities. The winter social
will tend to be held after New Years and involve dinner and awards.
CLUB MEETINGS
WFT holds meetings each fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 pm. At this time
the meetings are held at the Lehi, Utah Winger’s.
RESCUE
We have been involved the rescue and transport of several young Brittanys
over the past two years. We have also aided individuals in locating and
adopting young Brittanys directly from Utah shelters.
